Qt Purchasing Module Might Come To Qt 5.6 For Offering In-App Purchases
The Qt Company is hoping to integrate their "Qt Purchasing" module into the upcoming Qt 5.6 tool-kit release.
Qt Purchasing is a module designed to help app developers handle in-app purchases. At present this module supports integration with the app stores on Apple iOS and Android, while there's already a patch pending to integrate support for the OS X App Store too. Other app store back-ends could be implemented for Windows, any Linux app store, etc.
The Qt Company has offered QtPurchasing as a commercial add-on for a while but now they're hoping to integrate it into the open-source Qt under LGPLv3/GPLv2/Commercial. The announcement was sent yesterday about landing Qt Purchasing for Qt 5.6.
However, there's some disagreement between the community and The Qt Company: this module would be landing rather late in the Qt 5.6 cycle, whether or not it should be labeled a "technical preview" module, if the API should be changed to avoid hurting Qt commercial customers, and similar issues are currently being discussed in the linked mailing list thread. The module would need to land in the next week or so otherwise it could be held off until the Qt 5.7 cycle.
