Wine-Staging 1.7.38 Adds Job Object Support, Improved DXVA2
Following Friday's release of Wine 1.7.38 is the new Wine-Staging build based upon this release but with various experimental functionality added in. As usual, this Wine-Staging update is another exciting feature release.
The new functionality added to Wine-Staging 1.7.38 is Job Object support as a way to manage groups of processes as a single object. Job Object support is required for EA Origin, among other software, and hasn't been supported by Wine up to now being added to this staging tree.
Wine-Staging 1.7.38 also continues work on supporting Microsoft's DXVA2 video acceleration API for decoding of MPEG2 and H.264 video using FFmpeg/libavcodec is working stable. The DXVA2 decoding now also can work through VA-API's DRM interfaces directly (libva-drm) rather than through the libva X11 code.
Last but not least are improvements to the shell32 Wine code. In total there's more than 600 patches to the Wine-Staging tree. More details on the new release via Wine-Staging.com.
