The Critically-Important X.Org Elections Are Ending Soon
What makes voting in this year's elections so important is that they are voting not only for new Board of Directors but also on the by-laws change needed for the organization to become part of the SPI (Software in the Public Interest). In order to approve the by-laws change, they need two-thirds of the members to vote. Sadly, they don't usually have such turnout in the yearly X.Org elections. Compounding matters is that last year they voted on the same by-laws change originally for their SPI merger, but they didn't cross the two-thirds threshold.
X.Org members shouldn't sleep through this critical election!
If this whole X.Org + SPI topic is new to you, I've been writing many articles about it for this matter they've been considering since around 2013. By becoming part of the SPI, they would get their legal and financial matters better taken care of by SPI (in exchange for a small cut of the money) as we all know how at times the X.Org Foundation can be a bit less then organized.
Don't let X.Org down by not voting this year. The voting takes just a few minutes!
Details are on the X.Org 2016 Elections page. Voting ends at 26 April 23:59 UTC. Besides the by-laws change, there are four BoD seats up for taking with the nominees being Bryce Harrington, Alex Deucher, Egbert Eich, Keith Packard, and Lucas Stach. Members can vote via members.x.org.
