Examination:

Like the OCZ modules we have reviewed in the past, the heatspreaders equipped on the PC-4000 Platinum Edition modules are identical to its copper predecessors. As we are sure you are well aware, OCZ has recently adopted a new extravagant heatspreader design that will be used by future system memory modules with the first set to use this new cooling solution is the GX XTC line-up, which we will be reviewing here shortly at Phoronix. Getting back on track to the memory at hand, on the left hand side of the heatspreaders is OCZ's part sticker while in the middle of the heatspreader is OCZ's logo embedded onto the copper. The part stickers contained the following information: PC-4000, 1024MB EB Dual CH, Platinum Edition, 3-3-2-8, and a part number of OCZ5002048EBPE-K. Removing the heatspreaders off the OCZ system memory we found them to be manufactured by Infineon and labeled HYB25D512800CE-6 with additional markings of FSS20605 and 0528. Looking at Infineon's specification sheet for these ICs they are rated for DDR-333 usage at 2.5-3-3, which is quite dissenting from OCZ's specifications for which the memory actually operates.
