BIOS:

Elitegroup Computer Systems uses an American Megratrends BIOS for the PF5 Extreme motherboard. As was stated earlier in this article, the PF5 Extreme is home to a host of tweaking and overclocking features found in the BIOS, such as Instant Overclocking Control and ECSonic II. Loading up the BIOS, the pages available were standard BIOS features, boot configuration features, advanced BIOS features, advanced Chipset features, power management features, hardware health configure, and BIOS security features. Also available were options to load optimal BIOS settings as well as best performance settings. The AMI BIOS used was version 08.00.12 and a build date of 10/18/05. From the advanced BIOS features area are settings for CPU, floppy, IDE, Super I/O, and voltage adjustment. From the CPU settings area, the frequency and FSB speed are displayed as well as the cache for Level 1 and Level 2. Hyper Threading, Max CPUID value limit, CPU TM function, and PCI-E clock synchronize can be toggled. Also available from here is the CPU clock frequency, which can be adjusted from 100MHz to 500MHz. The CPU voltage can be adjusted from 1.20V to 1.60V, in 0.0125V steps, while the DDR voltage can be increased up to an extra 0.45V. Meanwhile, the Northbridge Vcore can be supplied with an extra 0.15V. The advanced Chipset features allow the DRAM frequency to be controlled as well as the DRAM timings. The hardware health configuration allows SMART fan control functions and displays the system and CPU temperature, Northbridge, CPU, and system fan speeds, and CPU, Northbridge, +12V, +5V, +5VSB+, and VBAT voltages.
