With Counter-Strike: Global Offensive at 3840 x 2160, the Radeon R9 Fury is able to run up to the same speed as a GeForce GTX 970... Still it'd be an awful investment with the GTX 970 costing much less, but at least it's more competitive than when run at 1080p. The GeForce GTX 960 and higher could run Counter-Strike: Global Offensive fine at 4K. The R9 285/290 also could handle CS:GO on Catalyst for Linux at 4K.

The Radeon R9 290 came out with a decent performance-per-cost while being able to handle CS:GO, which was right in line with the GTX 970 but behind the GTX 960.

The performance-per-Watt of the Radeon R9 285 and R9 290 were only matching that of the Kepler GTX 680 and behind all the Maxwell GPUs. The Radeon R9 Fury performance-per-Watt was coming in right in front of the GeForce GTX 960.
