Examination:

Starting with the bottom of the OCZ Tempest is the Titanium-coated copper base. Closely examining the base, we had not found any major imperfections other than a few minor scratches. Running from the copper base plate are four heatpipes. These four heatpipes run from the base to the aluminum fins above them. Heatpipes remain popular with CPU heatsinks from the Thermalright XP-90 to the recently reviewed SilverStone Nitrogon NT06. Next to the Titanium-coated base are holes for attaching the CPU socket mounting brackets.

The fins for dissipating the heat are pure aluminum, but like the base are titanium-plated. The weight of this heatsink is 580 grams without the fan attached. The fan attached to the top of the heatsink is 2500RPM and pushes 44.0 CFM. The fan also boasts blue LEDs. OCZ's documentation only states the fan as being "low-noise", and does not provide any audible specifications.
