Ubuntu vs. Fedora vs. openSUSE vs. Manjaro vs. Clear Linux On Intel's Core i9 7900X
First up in the single-threaded SQLite benchmark, Clear Linux came out well ahead of the other tested distributions, likely due to its aggressive compiler flags.
In Numpy, Intel's Clear Linux was also at the forefront while Ubuntu 17.04 was in last. Numpy is one of the workloads potentially benefiting from AVX-512 optimizations. Coming in second behind Clear was openSUSE Tumbleweed.
While for the OpenMP-threaded John The Ripper test that can successfully make use of all 20 threads, Ubuntu 17.04 had a narrow lead over openSUSE Tumbleweed followed by Fedora 26 and Clear Linux.
While with the TTSIOD 3D Renderer that also craves as many cores as possible, openSUSE Tumbleweed was the fastest. Manjaro is really struggling in a number of tests on this system.
