Performance:

In our Linux and Solaris testing of the ASUS Blitz Extreme P35 we had used an Intel Core 2 Duo E4600, OCZ DDR3-1333 Gold 2 x 1GB, Gigabyte 8600GT, and a Seagate 200GB hard drive. For our Linux compatibility tests we had tried out Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn, Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon (daily LiveCD from early September), and Fedora 7. Like the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P, we hadn't run into any direct Linux compatibility issues with our test as the network, audio, and the other onboard components had worked without any issues. However, Sun's Check Tool 1.2 hadn't worked on this motherboard and chipset.

When it came to overclocking the ASUS Blitz Extreme, this Republic of Gamers motherboard had overclocked well. With a Core 2 Duo E6400 we were able to break 3GHz easy with air-cooling. For our benchmarks in this article we had run the processor though at 2.81GHz as well as the 2.13GHz stock frequency. The benchmarks we had used in this article were Enemy Territory, Quake 4, LAME compilation, LAME encoding, timed disk reads, Gzip compression, and RAMspeed. With these benchmarks from Fedora 7 with the Linux 2.6.22.4 kernel and the NVIDIA 100.14.11 driver, we had compared these Linux results to the Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L and ASRock 4Conroe-1333ViiV.
