Amazon Fire TV - A Quick Look

With few hardware connections and being designed by Amazon, the setup process was incredibly easy. Soon as the device was connected there was some system updates to be applied.

The software setup process was also easy... Well, it was basically already setup. To some surprise, the device was already associated with my Amazon Prime account as soon as it was plugged in.

The voice search worked surprisingly well. The voice is processed within Amazon's cloud but the results were near instant and there were no issues in voice detection.

The interface is very slick and easy to use from the Fire TV's limited remote control.

The Fire TV also supports using Netflix and other apps, but for my purposes I was mostly interested in Amazon Instance Video capabilities. Amazon is the only source I use for streaming Internet videos when working late at night and playing videos in the background, etc. Being built upon Amazon's Android Fire OS platform, apps can be easily introduced but for my purposes I'm mainly interested in using it as a replacement compared to in the past when playing Amazon videos and streaming the videos to a TV using a Google Chromecast.
