LuxMark meanwhile is one of the OpenCL benchmarks that traditionally done very well on AMD OpenCL hardware and with the ROCm 1.6 stack it's no different: the R9 Fury even pulls right in line with the GeForce GTX 1080. But then again, this closed-source benchmark is a bit peculiar as in this test the GTX 1070 manages to come ahead of the GTX 1080 while the GTX 1080 Ti reigns supreme.

Though on a performance-per-Watt basis, the AMD GPUs are still behind NVIDIA's Maxwell line-up. The GeForce GTX 1060/1070/1080 were performing well in front of the other tested hardware.

With the hotel scene in LuxMark, the Radeon competition was much less with the R9 Fury and RX 580 coming in just ahead of a GTX 780 Ti and GTX 960.
