For these tests they were run at 1080p or less given the limitations of the older hardware and their vRAM sizes.

Radeon RX 480 Compared To Past Per Watt

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive at 1080p becomes rather CPU bound at 1080p with modern hardware, but still shows just how far AMD GPUs have evolved since the RV770 days. The RX 480 is 4.3x faster than a Radeon HD 4870 for CS:GO...

While over a 4x GPU performance improvement is significant, looking at the performance-per-Watt for CS:GO at 1080p shows an improvement of nearly 6x! Going just from the R9 285 to RX 480 is a perf-per-Watt improvement of 11%.

Dota was obviously tested with its OpenGL renderer considering Vulkan is only supported via the AMDGPU driver stack... But even still these results are fun to see.

The Dota 2 performance-per-Watt was about a 5x improvement going from the HD 4850 to RX 480.
