AMD Ryzen 7 1800X vs. Intel Core i7 7700K Linux Gaming Performance
First up with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the performance governor had helped the Ryzen 7 1800X performance compared to its out-of-the-box kernel configuration, but it wasn't enough to put its performance ahead of the Core i7 7700K. Again, both systems were using the same Sapphire R9 Fury graphics card during testing.
The Ryzen setup had consumed less power than the Core i7 7700K setup, but its performance-per-Watt was still lower than the Intel Kabylake performance.
When running Counter-Strike: Global Offensive at 4K where the GPU is busier, the Ryzen 7 1800X was performing at least closer to the Core i7 7700K.
The 4K showing also allowed the Ryzen CPU to have a slight advantage in performance-per-Watt.
With Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the Core i7 7700K was faster than the Ryzen 7 1800X by almost 30%.
