AMD Ryzen 5 7600X Linux Performance
For those considering a modest developer box with the Ryzen 5 7600X, it was performing well for code compilation tasks. In the case of compiling FFmpeg the Ryzen 5 7600X shaved off more than a quarter of the build time.
If frequently compiling large code-bases with multiple jobs simultaneously it obviously pays off to invest in as large of a core count system as possible. But even still with the Ryzen 5 7600X it continued to show very significant generational uplift from the Ryzen 5 5600X and was outperforming the prior generation Intel Core i9 11900K "Rocket Lake" processor.
During these code compilation workloads, not only was the Ryzen 5 7600X tending to outperform the Core i9 11900K but doing so while consuming significantly less power.
