More than 130 different benchmarks were run, namely various real-world HPC/server workloads, for seeing what performance cost is associated with having Secure Memory Encryption enabled for Genoa with its beefed up encryption.

The benchmarks proved to be rather boring, but in this case that's a good thing... Rarely was there any statistically significant performance penalty when running with AMD Secure Memory Encryption enabled for the 4th Gen EPYC CPUs.

Most often the performance impact of running with AMD SME active was a very small difference to system memory performance.
