The New AMD GPU Open-Source Driver On Linux 4.2 Works, But Still A Lot Of Work Ahead

There's still more work to go on the open-source AMDGPU driver stack, but at least it's becoming within reach of end-users. More tests will come once all of the user-space support has been mainlined, and especially once power management support arrives for this AMD Tonga GPU. AMD Fiji open-source tests will come once that code has materialized.

Aside from this R9 285 open vs. closed-source comparison, in the days ahead I'll run some other fresh open-source graphics benchmarks on the other AMD Radeon graphics cards from this Mesa Git stack with LLVM 3.8.0 SVN back-end. Next week is also the first Radeon R9 Fury Linux benchmarks.
