AMD Kaveri: Catalyst vs. RadeonSI Gallium3D On Linux
With Mesa 10.3-devel, Unigine Heaven was running now with RadeonSI Gallium3D for the Radeon R7 Graphics found with the A10-7800. The frame rates were even good compared to Catalyst, but there were still qualitative differences in comparing their handling of Unigine Heaven.
RadeonSI Gallium3D is much faster for Unigine Sanctuary with Mesa 10.3-devel -- more than four times faster -- but still a little over half the speed of Catalyst.
Unigine Tropics is a similar story to the Sanctuary tech demo.
With the Warsow first person shooter, the A10-7800 with the latest open-source Linux driver code ran at 81% the speed of Catalyst 14.6 Beta.
