The A8-3870K was at least competitive with the Intel Core i5 2400S for Smallpt, but the Core i5 2500K, Core i7 920, and others all remained with a significant performance lead.

When running the A8-3870K at 3.5GHz for the VP8 libvpx encoding benchmark, the overclocked Llano was faster than the Intel Core i7 920 "Bloomfield" CPU but all of the Sandy Bridge processors remained noticeably faster. The FX-8150 in the vpxenc benchmark was only faster than the high-end Llano by 10%.
