AMD OpenCL APP SDK Beats Intel's Own SDK On Ivy Bridge
For the three LuxMark benchmarks on the CPU, AMD's OpenCL software development kit was faster every time from the Ivy Bridge processor than Intel's own OpenCL SDK. 18% for the room scene, 23% for sala, and an incredible 48% for the luxball HDR demo were the differences that were in favor of AMD's OpenCL software over Intel. This is a bit ironic that AMD's OpenCL environment is actually faster on Intel hardware than Intel's own code.
More Linux-based OpenCL benchmarks from various CPUs are on the way, but so far, the AMD APP SDK is looking the most hopeful. For those wondering how these CPU-based OpenCL numbers compare to using the Open Computing Language on GPUs, there are the recent AMD Radeon GPU OpenCL Linux benchmarks.
