LLVM Clang 3.4 Is Running Very Well On AMD's High-End APU
The Bullet Physics tests favored GCC 4.9 over LLVM Clang 3.4.
GCC 4.9 also had a strong win with HINT.
More of these GCC vs. Clang compiler benchmark results from AMD's A10-7850K Kaveri APU running Ubuntu Linux can be found on OpenBenchmarking.org via 1401278-PL-CLANGKAVE26. Coming up in the next few days will be similar Intel Haswell benchmarks to see whether LLVM Clang catching up (or outperforming) GCC 4.9 in several benchmarks is specific to AMD Steamroller processors or can also be found on other platforms.
For more details on these latest compilers see our many GCC 4.9 and LLVM 3.4 / Clang 3.4 articles on Phoronix. Going forward the LLVM Clang compiler will be benchmarked on a daily basis in our new automated test farm.
