The GtkPerf GTK2 results were also mixed between RadeonSI GLAMOR and the Catalyst Linux graphics driver for the three graphics cards. Again, not much change in performance with the three high-end GPUs being close in specs and 2D workloads not fully leveraging the graphics hardware.

Beyond the mixed results, in normal usage of the Radeon HD 7000 series graphics cards using the Unity desktop on Ubuntu 13.10 between the open and closed-source drivers I've found the responsiveness and speed to be comparable between the two drivers. GLAMOR 2D seems to be decent these days and I've also not encountered any rendering issues or other problems recently with this 2D library layered over OpenGL.
