AMDGPU vs. Radeon DRM Driver Performance On Linux 4.15
Team Fortress 2 performance was largely unchanged.
The HD 7950 crashed with Tomb Raider on AMDGPU, but with the three other cards were slight frame-rate improvements with the newer DRM code.
The ET: Legacy performance was unchanged.
Xonotic also didn't see much of a change out of Radeon vs. AMDGPU DRM drivers on Linux 4.15.
The synthetic GpuTest benchmarks saw a very significant improvement in performance with the AMDGPU DRM driver over Radeon DRM. This is likely due to various memory management improvements in the AMDGPU DRM with the triangle benchmark largely being a function of vRAM performance. This may also help explain the AMDGPU performance benefits in some of the other Linux gaming benchmarks.
