Lastly were the gaming/3D tests... Here the average core temp was 78C with a peak of 93C where thermal throttling would kick in. Most of the time the GPU temp stayed around 80C but in between gaming rounds, etc, would quickly recede into the lower 70s or upper 60s. Overall, the Arctic Cooling Accelero S3 did a decent job passively cooling this Radeon RX 480 graphics card. Besides being passively cooled, what also led me to buying this cooler to replace the failed RX 480 reference fan was its low price at just over $30, which is good for an after-market GPU heatsink and among the cheapest passive/active coolers I could find from the major Internet retailers. This Accelero S3 for cooling both NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards can be found at Internet retailers like Amazon and NewEgg.
