ASRock X48TurboTwins-WiFi

BIOS:

The X48TurboTwins-WiFi is another ASRock motherboard deploying an American Megatrends Inc (AMI) BIOS. Like the other less-expensive ASRock motherboards, this BIOS doesn't have the extensive tweaking and overclocking abilities found with many of the enthusiast-brand motherboards. The CPU frequency though can be adjusted from 100 to 800MHz, CPU voltage from 0.81V to 1.60V, DRAM voltage up to 2.40V, and MCH voltage options of low/middle/high/highest.

System Setup:

Like the other Intel X48+ICH9R motherboards we have tested, the ASRock X48TurboTwins-WiFi hadn't exhibited any Linux compatibility problems. With a clean install of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, all of the onboard components were detected and had worked as expected with the Linux 2.6.24 kernel. The integrated 802.11g WiFi with its RTL8187L ASIC had even worked "out of the box" on Linux natively with a driver provided by Realtek.

The other system hardware we used during testing was an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, 2GB of OCZ DDR3-1333MHz memory, Seagate 160GB SATA 2.0 hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX 512MB graphics card, and a SilverStone Zeus ST75ZF power supply. This motherboard was tested with Phoronix Test Suite 1.0.4 using the pcqs-motherboard suite. The tests consist of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars demo, Nexuiz, OpenArena, X-Plane, timed PHP compilation, timed Apache compilation, timed Gzip compression, LAME MP3 encoding, GnuPG encryption, IOzone write performance, OpenSSL RSA encryption, RAMspeed, and Sunflow Rendering System. We had compared these Phoronix Test Suite results to the Gigabyte X48T-DQ6, Super Micro C2SBX+, and ASUS P5E3 Premium.
