OpenArena was one of the few tests where with the latest Linux driver code the performance exceeds the Windows 10 stack. With Clear Linux even though it's on Mesa 12.0 rather than 12.1-dev, it's offering slightly faster performance than Ubuntu Linux.

Clear Linux ships with aggressive compiler optimizations and various tuning throughout the kernel and other areas of the system to offer maximum performance. Graphics isn't even one of the key areas of Clear Linux compared to containers and server/workstation performance, but it tends to perform strongly here anyways.

Clear Linux is still pulling ahead of Ubuntu 16.04 with Xonotic. For those unfamiliar with the Phoronix Test Suite, it's all of the same generic Linux game binaries used across the distributions so the performance benefit of Clear Linux isn't at all due to compiler optimizations with the game/application itself.
