Radeon RADV vs. NVIDIA Vulkan Performance For F1 2017 On Linux

Tests were done at 1080p and 4K, first up being the 1920 x 1080 results.

With the ultra low image quality settings at 1080p, the higher-end graphics cards are CPU bound even with this Core i7 8700K Coffee Lake system. But we do see all of the Pascal graphics cards being faster than all of the tested Radeon graphics cards with RADV. The NVIDIA cards were about 15% faster than the tested Radeon hardware.

Even with high image quality settings at 1080p, the F1 2017 Linux port is still fairly CPU bound, but there is some scaling still on the NVIDIA side while the RX 580 / R9 Fury / RX Vega cards were all running about the same speed, which is slower than the tested NVIDIA GPUs.

Finally with ultra high image quality settings at 1080p the GPUs are being pushed harder with this Vulkan racing game. The RX 580 now performs a few frames in front of the GeForce GTX 1060, its comparable card in most benchmarks. The Radeon RX Vega graphics cards though are performing short of the GeForce GTX 1070.
