First up was the startup-time test profile that measured how long it took to launch various applications while carrying out various I/O patterns simultaneously. In the case of launching xterm while the system was busy with sequential reads as well as a second test with reads and writes, F2FS took noticeably longer than EXT4 and XFS on the Western Digital drive. On the SATA 3.0 SSD meanwhile F2FS was right in line with EXT4 and XFS.

In the case of the startup-time test with GNOME Terminal and LibreOffice, F2FS did manage to pull out an upset on the Western Digital hard drives while XFS came in second while EXT4 was much slower.

With our common SQLite benchmark, XFS was the fastest on the hard drive followed by EXT4 in a distant second place and then F2FS.
