Hiper DVI-to-HDMI Cable

Back in 2005 we were introduced to Hiper Group, a company that started out in the United Kingdom with dedication towards delivering the best quality, design, technology, and price for every Hiper product. We had reviewed the Clavier Aluminum Keyboard and Type-R Modular PSU from Hiper, but since then they have turned to offering an impressive variety of power supplies, case fans, cases, and other computer peripherals. While a simple product, one of their newer creations is a DVI to HDMI cable. This cable is made of 24 gauge wire with EMI shielding and gold-plated connectors, but at an affordable price.

This 1.8 meter DVI to HDMI cable from Hiper Group had arrived in a blister-packed container that bares much of their trademark purple color. Inside this container was just the cable itself and plastic ends on both connectors for added protection. This cable is capable of DVI-D to HDMI as well as HDMI to DVI-D. The cable itself is also purple and is 24 AWG with a full-tinned copper braid and aluminum foil shielding. There are also ferrite cores at both ends of the cable. The length of this cable, which is RoHS compliant, is 1.8 meters. While this cable is quite thick with aluminum tape, tinned copper braid, a transparent PVC sheath, and a PVC sleeve surrounding the 24 gauge wire, it is quite flexible, and we would certainly consider it a high-quality cable.

This DVI to HDMI cable is (of course) compatible with all DVI/HDMI-bearing devices from DVD players to LCD monitors to video game systems. For our testing we had used the Hiper HLC-1D1H-180 cable running from an ATI Radeon HD 3870 graphics card installed in a PC to a Sharp Aquos LCD TV. Everything had worked great and there were no problems or other issues and the clarity/colors were superb.

There isn't much to say about such a simple cable, but we just want to let you know about this latest product from Hiper Group. It's built very well (but still very much flexible) and features gold connectors and plenty of protection against electromagnetic interference. At the time of writing this DVI to HDMI cable can be found for about $20 USD.
