The Core i7 1280P did outperform the Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U in a number of workloads as well as the Ryzen 9 5900HX when making good use of the Intel microarchitecture or not too heavily threaded / workload interference with the efficiency cores.

But still for many workloads the Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U (and the 5900HX) have aged very well for being last year's processors.

Even in some of Intel's own open-source software like the Embree ray-tracing kernels the Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U still performed better than the Core i7 1280P.

Especially for power efficiency the Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U was coming out consistently ahead of this high-end Alder Lake P SoC.

At least though for most workloads (besides the AVX-512 exceptions), the Core i7 1280P was a strong upgrade over the Core i7 1185G7 Tiger Lake.
