Intel Core i9 7980XE Linux Benchmarks: 18 Core / 36 Threads For $1999 USD
Through a variety of different workloads, the Core i9 7980XE performance-per-Watt tended to be just behind the Core i9 7960X.'
While both the i9-7960X and i9-7980XE are rated with a 165 Watt TDP, the CPU usage with the Extreme Edition processor was slightly higher. The average AC system power draw of the i9-7980XE was 160 Watts compared to 145~146 Watts with the Threadripper 1950X and Core i9 7960X. The peak power draw of the Core i9 7980XE test system was 295 Watts, or just two Watts higher than the i9-7960X but about thirty Watts higher than the Threadripper 1950X.
