Even if factoring out the other component differences in a worst-case scenario, Broadwell is still a very healthy improvement over Intel's Sandy Bridge microarchitecture.

The efficiency of Broadwell is looking good compared to Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge, but again more laptops will be part of a comparison on Phoronix in the days ahead. On the following pages are a number of Linux benchmarks when running on AC power between these three laptops with the Core i7 5600U Broadwell, Core i7 3517U Ivy Bridge, and Core i5 2520M Sandy Bridge hardware.
