First up is a look at the Firefox performance in some of the graphics-focused web benchmarks. Under MotionMark, the Core i7 Icelake performance was 30% faster than the previous generation Core i7 8565U Whiskey Lake Dell XPS. Using the Iris Gallium3D driver with Icelake hadn't meant any performance change in this particular test.

The performance-per-Watt for the Core i7-1065G7 was about 24% higher than the Core i7-8565U.

The system power consumption was similar but the peak was 2~5 Watts less for the Icelake laptop.

The Icelake laptop was also operating cooler than the earlier Dell XPS models.

With the HTML5 CanvasMark test under Firefox 69, the new Dell XPS 7390 was just 6% faster or it wound up being 9% when switching over to the Gallium3D driver.

The performance-per-Watt for CanvasMark, however, was up to 25% better.

Obviously HTML5 / web graphics tests aren't the most demanding, so let's take a look at some games.
