The Gaming Performance Impact From The Intel JCC Erratum Microcode Update
Total War: Three Kingdoms, a Linux native game, was another example of seeing higher frame time spikes with the newer JCC code although not enough to affect the overall frame-rate average.
So overall the gaming performance impact of the Intel JCC microcode update fit within the guidance of a 0~4% performance hit from the new microcode update. But for games that aren't graphically demanding there were exceptions like ET: Legacy seeing an 8% hit and aside form the averages in some games the peak frame-times were higher with today's microcode update.
See the rest of the JCC Erratum benchmarks if not already done so, including the results for where a patched assembler can help offset the performance impact.
