Intel Core i7 7820X Linux Benchmarks

In the single-threaded Numpy Python benchmark, the Core i7 7820X was in line with other Kabylake and Skylake CPUs while the Ryzen 7 CPUs were much slower.

SciKit-Learn as packaged on Ubuntu isn't well optimized for very recent CPUs as can be seen from the graphs and where the Ryzen 7 1800X is able to secure a first-place finish.

Most often the Core i7 7820X was running in second place among the CPUs tested and coming in just behind the Core i9 7900X. But depending upon the workload, sometimes the Ryzen 7 1800X was driving better value although it largely depends upon the workloads you intend to run on the system. Stay tuned for more Intel X-Series benchmarks under Linux and BSD on Phoronix in the near future. It will also be interesting to see how this range of CPUs with Ubuntu compare to the upcoming AMD Threadripper and Intel Coffee Lake launches.
