Intel SSD 660p: 512GB Of NVMe Storage For $99 USD

The sequential read performance with a 2MB block size was coming in at 1641MB/s, above that of the 600p and even 800p. This entry-level NVMe SSD is certainly much faster than SATA 3.0 SSDs/HDDs as you can see from the results while understandably the QLC NAND leads it to just low/mid-range performance of the other NVMe drives.

The write performance was roughly in line with the also inexpensive Toshiba RC100 but the 660p had the advantage of offering much better read performance while also offering more storage capacity per dollar.

Not that you would want to run a database server on a QLC entry-level SSD in production... But for a real-world look at Postgres: the 660p 512GB does fairly well and comes in line with the Samsung drives that tend to come in under expectations for PostgreSQL performance.

The SQLite embedded database library is used by countless desktop applications and other use-cases. Fortunately, the Intel 660p does deliver very good performance with SQLite and certainly much faster than old SATA SSDs/HDDs.
