When we had upped the write size to 8GB, the performance on the X25-E had dropped to 202MB/s while the Seagate drive was at 48MB/s, which is still a very large margin.

Our last IOzone test was measuring the 8GB read performance, where we found the Seagate 7200.2 SATA 2.0 HDD to read at 60MB/s while the Intel X25-E Extreme SSD was reading at 234MB/s.
