Linux 2.6.26 Kernel Benchmarks
To compare your kernel's performance to these tests, once the Phoronix Test Suite has been installed, run phoronix-test-suite benchmark michael-15379-11303-7686. While these tests had just compared the 2.6.25 and 2.6.26 kernels, in a few of the tests with this Intel system we had experienced slightly better performance. While the performance differences will be negligible in most instances, the new features and fixes within this latest version of the Linux kernel should make it worth the upgrade. In the near future, we will perform a more thorough comparison of the recent Linux kernel releases.
