The Huge Disaster Within The Linux 2.6.35 Kernel

With the x264 test on the high-end ZaReason notebook the performance dropped by nearly 20% with the Linux 2.6.35 development kernel.

With a pre-regressed kernel there were 9250 MIPS with the 7zip test on the quad-core notebook while with an affected kernel it dropped to 7099 MIPS -- over a 20% difference.

The delta on the ZaReason notebook with this kernel regression is whopping for the LU.A NPB test. By simply swapping these recent kernels, the LU.A score went from 4233 Mop/s to just 206 Mop/s. Yes, it is really that bad with there being a 20x difference.
