With the first disk test of Flexible IO Tester, Reiser4 was the clear winner. Reiser4 pulled ahead of EXT4, which was the second fastest file-system, and this experimental file-system had a noticeable performance lead ahead of the stable ReiserFS. Btrfs and XFS both trailed by large margins.

With the FS-Mark test involving one thousand files of 1MB size, Reiser4 was only faster than ReiserFS but came up short of the more common EXT4 / Btrfs / XFS.

For the four-threaded FS-Mark test, Reiser4 wasn't any faster than ReiserFS and fell short of the performance levels by the rest of the Linux file-system competition.

For the final FSMark test, the Reiser4 performance came in just shy of EXT4.
