The SciMark2 performance is close in this micro-benchmark between macOS and Ubuntu aside from a few compiler differences.

The TSCP chess engine performance was also close.

Ubuntu 17.10 with GCC 7 is faster for C-Ray multi-threaded ray-tracing.

Stockfish chess was also faster with Ubuntu 17.10.

OpenSSL signing is much faster with Ubuntu 17.10...

With the Java-based Sunflow rendering system, the results were close between operating systems.

Well, that's our latest macOS vs. Linux performance data from this Late-2016 model MacBook Pro. It was fun testing for curiosity sake and Ubuntu 17.10 tended to outrun macOS High Sierra in a number of the tests, but still the Linux hardware compatibility with this laptop is a wreck.
