Mesa 17.0 Benchmarks With Intel: Noticeably Better Vulkan Performance

First up is our look at the Vulkan performance.

Intel's ANV Vulkan driver is notably faster than Mesa 13.0.4. On this Core i7 7700K system, the Vulkan performance for Dota 2 is about 25% faster with Mesa 17.0 than Mesa 13.0! That is with a CPU bound scenario of 1024 x 768..

The Vulkan performance improvements for Intel in Mesa 17.0 are significant since this now makes the Vulkan results noticeably faster than the Intel OpenGL results! At the same 1024 x 768 and other settings, the Intel results were around 41 FPS. So where as on Mesa 13.0 the OpenGL vs. Vulkan performance for Intel was about the same, with Mesa 17.0 at this lower resolution on Dota 2 it heavily favors Vulkan.

When moving up to 1080p with Dota 2, the Vulkan performance on Mesa 17.0 is faster by 33%.

At 1920 x 1080 this also puts the Mesa 17.0 Intel Vulkan driver faster than its OpenGL driver, but it's much closer at 24 vs. 22 FPS.
