Aside from the components being spread out more on the ATX ECS motherboard, the layout is mostly conventional and similar to that of the ASRock. Like the K10N78FullHD-hSLI motherboard, in the upper right hand corner are the four DDR2 memory slots that support up to 8GB of DDR2-1066MHz memory and along side that are the 24-pin ATX power and IDE connectors.

Rather than squeezing the GeForce 8200 Chipset between the expansion slots and CPU socket, ECS engineers have positioned it where the southbridge conventionally is behind the expansion slots. Cooling the GeForce 8200 (MCP78S) is a small aluminum heatsink. Around this chipset are six Serial ATA 2.0 ports, two 3-pin fan headers, and three USB 2.0 headers (compared to two with the ASRock motherboard).

The expansion slots on this motherboard include one PCI Express x16, two PCI Express x1, and three PCI. Below the bottom-most PCI slot is the FDD connector and audio header. The CMOS battery is positioned behind one of the PCI Express x1 connectors.

With this ATX motherboard there is a bit more room around the AM2+ Socket than what is found with the ASRock K10N78FullHD-hSLI. With the same chipset and socket, the same processors that are supported by the ASRock motherboard are also supported on the ECS GF8200A Black (of course).

The ports at the I/O panel on the GF8200 Black include two PS/2, one VGA, two HDMI, six USB 2.0, one Gigabit Ethernet, and six audio jacks.
