Updated NVIDIA GeForce Benchmarks On Ubuntu Linux With Team Fortress 2

The graphics cards used for the latest Team Fortress 2 Linux GPU comparison included:

- GeForce 9800GT
- GeForce GT 220
- GeForce GT 240
- GeForce GTX 460
- GeForce GT 520
- GeForce GTX 550 Ti
- GeForce GT 610
- GeForce GTX 650
- GeForce GTX 680

This comparison was bound by the recent NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards in my possession, which is sadly limited due to NVIDIA's lack of cooperation when it comes to Linux coverage. In dealing with NVIDIA's press representatives over the past nine years, they have been rather uncooperative in supplying hardware review samples when it comes to Linux benchmarks/reviews. As a result, the NVIDIA GPUs used at Phoronix are generally either ones that NVIDIA's own Linux developers had purchased internally and then sent over to me, some samples from AIB partners, or graphics cards I had purchased -- even with 100+ Linux GPU reviews at Phoronix, 570+ Linux GPU driver articles, and over a thousand Linux GPU driver news stories and other related Linux/open-source items over the past decade. Our forums are also used by many of the upstream Linux graphics driver developers as well as our open-source Linux benchmarking software being used internally at AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA by various groups and many other organizations. Hopefully with SteamOS and the continuing advancements of Linux gaming, their PR team will find Linux to be of more value and the return on investment with continuous Linux GPU driver benchmarks. At least NVIDIA's Linux driver developers remain very committed to their work.

If you would like to support the Linux hardware review and benchmarking work done at Phoronix, which is the only major source for such enthusiast-geared hardware articles and reviews, and the hundreds of articles I single-handedly write hundreds of articles per month, please consider subscribing to Phoronix Premium for ad-free viewing and multi-page articles on a single page or making a PayPal contribution. On the following pages are our straightforward benchmarks of Team Fortress 2 using the Phoronix Test Suite with the assortment of NVIDIA graphics cards. The tests can be reproduced by installing Team Fortress 2 with Steam on Linux and then run phoronix-test-suite benchmark tf2. Stay tuned for the AMD Radeon benchmarks and other Linux driver tests.
