OpenSUSE Leap 42.1 vs. Leap 42.2 vs. Tumbleweed Benchmarks
Clear Linux edges out with Hiemno.
OpenSUSE Leap 42.2 was the fastest of the bunch for the compile times, in part due to sticking to GCC 4.8. Clear Linux is the slowest since all of its default CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS prolong the build process due to greater optimizations.
Those are the latest openSUSE Linux benchmarking numbers I have available. Some more results can be found via this OpenBenchmarking.org result file. Overall, it appears the openSUSE Leap 42.2 performance is better than Leap 42.1, including rather significant gains for some of the benchmarks. However, OpenSUSE Tumbleweed was still faster in many of the benchmarks compared to Leap 42.2 while Intel's Clear Linux shows what is possible when having a Linux distribution that's very minded about ultimate performance and willing to ship with rather aggressive defaults for optimal Linux performance.
