OS X 10.9.4 vs. Ubuntu Linux - Intel Sandy Bridge

Nexuiz at 2560 x 1440 saw the OS X 10.9.4 performance beat that of the open-source Intel driver shipped by Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, but with the upgrade to Mesa 10.3-devel the Intel Sandy Bridge performance is now close to being in line with Apple's OpenGL driver.

Urban Terror was one of the games with the most significant performance differences where Ubuntu Linux was about twice as fast as the OS X 10.9.4 performance numbers. Mesa 10.3-devel brought an additional performance boost and then moving from Linux 3.16 to Linux 3.17 brought a significant jump in the frame-rate.

The Urban Terror results were of similar differences at 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440, the native resolution of the tested Apple Thunderbolt Display.
