Benchmarking Packet.com's Bare Metal Intel Xeon / AMD EPYC Cloud
The Rustlang performance was one of the rare workloads where the EPYC 7401P server performs abnormally poor.
With the 7-Zip compression benchmark, the c2.medium instance ran right in the middle of the Xeon servers while on a performance-per-dollar basis this time it lost to the c1.small instance at its 40 cents per hour cost.
With the Stockfish chess benchmark, the EPYC Packet.com offering returned immediately to being a strong contender particularly if you are looking for the best value.
This was also the case for PostgreSQL aside from the 40 cent per hour Xeon instance offering better value albeit with close to a third of the performance of the EPYC 7401P offering.
