PTS Global

Not only is it very easy to run these benchmarks, but it's also easy (perhaps even easier) to distribute the complete results and comparing the numbers with others that have ran the same tests. The PTS Global Database allows you to upload your results and even download results from others all within the Phoronix Test Suite software. In addition, there is also a web front-end for viewing results, which can be found at global.phoronix-test-suite.com. Before equating it with Futuremark's ORB, an online results database for sharing results from the Windows-only PCMark and 3DMark benchmarks, this is far from being the same thing. Unlike that database, which is mainly for satisfying the egos of computer gamers and enthusiasts and is limited to sharing the results from a single proprietary software vendor, the Phoronix Test Suite Global Database allows for real collaboration and open comparisons. This database also allows you to upload results for any Linux software that has a Phoronix Test Suite profile written for it, whether it be an "official" profile or not, as long as it abides by the Phoronix Test Suite profile architecture. This will allow you to easily compare your hardware with others.

If for instance, you run Nexuiz 2.4 within the Phoronix Test Suite and run it at 1680 x 1050 with High Dynamic Range (HDR) and then your upload results, a colleague can come along and simply supply the global ID of your uploaded result to the Phoronix Test Suite. The Phoronix Test Suite software will automatically download Nexuiz on your behalf (if you haven't done so already) and will benchmark it in exactly the same fashion as the original result -- even to the extent of the custom resolution and HDR. After that, the two results will be displayed side-by-side along with the hardware and software in each system. These direct comparisons aren't limited either to a single benchmark, but you can compare the results of an entire test suite.

If you want to share the results but don't want to use PTS Global or just wish to share the results across your intranet, you can do that too! Just enter the URL of the Phoronix Test Suite results file and this software will take care of the rest. In addition, the Phoronix Test Suite also supports a merge-results option if you want to merge the results from two separate tests already completed or if you are like us and test out a half-dozen graphics cards and then at the end of all the testing you wish to compare the results.
