Radeon Software 18.20 vs. Mesa 18.2 RadeonSI/RADV Linux Driver Performance
The X-Plane 11 flight simulator that currently uses OpenGL for rendering is much faster with RadeonSI.
With Unigine Superposition, the RX 580 and R9 Fury performance was very close between the two OpenGL drivers while for the RX Vega 64 it was the fastest using the RadeonSI driver inside Mesa 18.2.
While lastly under Unigine Valley, the RadeonSI driver was delivering sharply better performance over the closed-source PRO OpenGL driver.
Long story short, the Mesa RadeonSI/RADV performance continues looking great and for the most part is well ahead these days compared to the "PRO" OpenGL driver especially but also the Vulkan driver in many cases too. It was just for a few games that the closed-source Vulkan driver was faster, in some cases just for the Radeon RX Vega, while on the opposite side there were a few games where the Radeon Software Vulkan driver wouldn't even work out.
