AMD Radeon: Windows 8.1 Catalyst vs. Linux Gallium3D vs. Linux Catalyst
The open-source Radeon drivers can't yet handle GiMark or TessMark due to missing OpenGL/GLSL support. When it came to the Catalyst performance between the Windows and Linux operating systems, the performance was on par.
The results in this article shouldn't come as too much of a surprise given the recent testing at Phoronix of the open and closed-source drivers. Again, in the coming days will be some Git graphics driver benchmark results for those willing to upgrade their system(s) to running on the latest development code for the Linux kernel and Mesa.
