RADV vs. AMDGPU-PRO vs. AMDVLK Vulkan Linux Driver Performance
First up was the F1 2017 Linux racing game released earlier this year by Feral Interactive.
The first configuration was a knowingly CPU-bound setup of using 1080p with low quality settings... The PRO Vulkan driver was a few frames faster on the RX 580 while on the RX Vega 64 it was just a two frame difference to RADV. The AMDVLK open-source driver was a couple frames lower.
When increasing the visual quality to ultra high, the PRO Vulkan driver was about 8% faster than AMDVLK and RADV. But the RADV results were much closer.
The results at 1440p were similar.
While hammering these graphics cards with 4K rendering, the PRO Vulkan driver came out noticeably ahead of AMDVLK and RADV. AMDVLK does appear to have some advantages still over RADV while the RX 580 positioning was much tighter.
